It’s been a long time since I’ve attempted to come up with a writing challenge. What can I say? Life is busy, busy. This idea came upon me by accident, and I just knew it would help some writer out there who is struggling to get the creative juices flowing.
Write a story with nothing but dialogue. No exposition, no he said/she said tags… nothing but dialogue and punctuation. See an example here.
How do you make your voices different so that the reader knows who is speaking? Can you give little tidbits of scenery within the dialogue? Can you create an emotional experience for your reader? Of course you can!
We’re not aiming for perfect, here – just practice. Post it here as a new topic. Who knows, maybe you’ll stumble upon your next plot?
We all need the warm fuzzies once in a while, so be sure to comment on others’ work and make their day.
Also, I want to give a big shout out to our fellow Scribbler, Linda McMann, who won honorable mention in the WOW – Women On Writing Fall Flash Fiction 2014 Contest! Congrats, Linda! Check out her skill here.
